Redamak's...is it that good?

An earlier visit to Redamak's with my little cousin, whom I love soooo much!

It's been a while since I've been to Redamak's.  For the past two months, I've been saying "I need to go back to Redamak's."  Finally I walked the walk.  I woke up 8 am today, hopped in the car and drove over 260 miles round trip to New Buffalo just to eat lunch.  Who does that!?  Who drives 5 hours for a burger.   Let me tell you...

This Guy!!!

Worth the Hype?

Each time I've been to Redamak's I remember loving the burgers.  I was a little worried about taking such a long drive just for a cheeseburger. It was very possible that the only reason that I thought the food was so good was because each time I went I was with great people.  The last time I went I was with my favorite people, my cousins Hannah, Suna, Mark and my wife Mary Jo. You know how it is.  It's like that song you hear at a concert.  At the time it was awesome because of the circumstances but sometimes when you buy the MP3 you realize that it wasn't as good as you remember.  Would this be the same?

So was 6 hours of my day worth it?  Damn straight!!!

I went for a double.  So, let's talk about this Double Cheeseburger.  So at first glance the presentation looks like it can use some work.  But don't let that fool you! I spent a few seconds re-arranging my burger and then took that first bite in which I waited so long for.  This burger was AWESOME!   The two patties were hand pressed for what appeared to be about a 1/2 lb. of juicy goodness.  The cheese was hot and gooey. I had them tossed on some lettuce, onions, pickles and mustard which rounded out this meaty treat. The beef was so tender and even though it was well done, it was anything but dry.  It didn't take me long to finish it and despite it being a pretty big burger, I didn't feel over full, unlike when I used to eat those hockey pucks that Champps like to call a "burger".  As for the Redamak's restaurant, the staff are friendly and attentive.  The place is fairly large which is nice because you don't feel cramped in, even when it's crowded. My waitress, whom I think her name was  Kyra helped make the 260 mile drive worth it.  She was super friendly and was able to answer all of my questions.

Rated 2nd Place Burger in My Book

So where does Redamak's rank.  Well of all the burger places I've been to in the world (and I've been to many), I would rank this a very very close 2nd just trailing Bubba Burgers of Kauai, which was featured earlier in my blog.  I've been from Hawaii to India, and Redamak's is one place I'll be visiting over and over again.  If you are ever in New Buffalo, or drive past Exit 4B in Michigan, stop at Redamak's.  I don't think you will regret it.

#1 Cheeseburger

My blog is called Cheeseburger Time so it would be crazy to not have a post about... Cheeseburgers!  I LOVE, LOVE cheeseburgers!  The idea for Cheeseburger Time came as a result of someone asking me "What was the best burger you ever ate?".  I didn't have an immediate answer, in part because I've eaten so many of them! Well, I took some time to stop for a minute and think about it.  The answer wasn't as hard as I thought.  With Kauai being my favorite place on Earth, I've been there several times.  During one of my 7 day trips, I think I had 14 Cheeseburgers from various places.  Coming in at #1 is Bubba Burgers of Hawaii in Kauai, Kapa'a. It's the only burger place I visited multiple times.

Bubba Burgers

The picture says it all.  I had a Double Bubba with cheese.  The first bite was so juicy.  Two hot, juicy patties, gooey cheese, crispy lettuce and fresh onions all on a soft, but sturdy bun.  I went with fries in this particular visit, but I've also had the O-Rings and no regrets there either!  I could tell this was made from the freshest ground beef  and topped with quality, fresh toppings.  There is nothing worse than a pressed block of frozen beef or beef that is seasoned to the extreme.  This burger was perfection!  The staff was so friendly and the cooks looked like they enjoyed their jobs. I think that showed in their food.  While words can't do this burger justice, just know that YUM sums it up.  If you are in Hawaii and you like burgers, then visit Bubba Burgers.  You won't regret it.

Hello World 2.0

This is an appropriate title for my first blog post because as a Technical Consultant, nearly every programming language that I learned had a first project called “Hello World”. So for my first blog post I am going to keep it simple.

Last year I decided that I wanted to create a web site.  First of all I like programming and wanted to play with some web design.  But more importantly I really wanted a place that I could share the things that I like as well as a place that I can share my opinions and thoughts. So here it is,  www.timrazik.com  and of course this blog site. I promise to take it a little more seriously than my Facebook posts. Off the bat, I will admit a few things:
  1. Spelling is not my forte! I have a B.A. in Mathematics and a B.A. and M.S.  in Computer Science with an emphasis on high performance computing.  So I might have some typos and maybe even fail to click the "abc" button in to check my spelling.  It’s not that I can’t get it right when it matters, it’s just that on my web site, spelling is not my priority.  So no comments on misspelled words please… unless they are funny comments :D
  2. Hello World 2.0?  Why 2.0?  I used to manage a WordPress powered site application on my personal website. As fun as it was to setup the database, security and feeds,  I realized that I just don't have time to keep it up to date.   So I moved here.
  3. Imagination is what drives my site.  I’m still working on taking my ideas and getting them here.  I love playing games like Final Fantasy and I love listening to music. I think My Favorites page helps illustrate this.  Also look at the picture in my banner.  I just love how this picture has stars, a moon and an old ship.  It kind of reminds me of the opening theme to "Enterprise" which shows the evolution of travel in our world.  It sparks the imagination doesn’t it?
Well I do hope you poke around my site and please let me know what you think.  I still have a lot of cleaning up to do but I’m going to take it slow. Thanks for taking time to visit!
