An earlier visit to Redamak's with my little cousin, whom I love soooo much! |
It's been a while since I've been to Redamak's. For the past two months, I've been saying "I need to go back to Redamak's." Finally I walked the walk. I woke up 8 am today, hopped in the car and drove over 260 miles round trip to New Buffalo just to eat lunch. Who does that!? Who drives 5 hours for a burger. Let me tell you...
This Guy!!!
Worth the Hype?
Each time I've been to Redamak's I remember loving the burgers. I was a little worried about taking such a long drive just for a cheeseburger. It was very possible that the only reason that I thought the food was so good was because each time I went I was with great people. The last time I went I was with my favorite people, my cousins Hannah, Suna, Mark and my wife Mary Jo. You know how it is. It's like that song you hear at a concert. At the time it was awesome because of the circumstances but sometimes when you buy the MP3 you realize that it wasn't as good as you remember. Would this be the same?
So was 6 hours of my day worth it? Damn straight!!!
I went for a double. So, let's talk about this Double Cheeseburger. So at first glance the presentation looks like it can use some work. But don't let that fool you! I spent a few seconds re-arranging my burger and then took that first bite in which I waited so long for. This burger was AWESOME! The two patties were hand pressed for what appeared to be about a 1/2 lb. of juicy goodness. The cheese was hot and gooey. I had them tossed on some lettuce, onions, pickles and mustard which rounded out this meaty treat. The beef was so tender and even though it was well done, it was anything but dry. It didn't take me long to finish it and despite it being a pretty big burger, I didn't feel over full, unlike when I used to eat those hockey pucks that Champps like to call a "burger". As for the Redamak's restaurant, the staff are friendly and attentive. The place is fairly large which is nice because you don't feel cramped in, even when it's crowded. My waitress, whom I think her name was Kyra helped make the 260 mile drive worth it. She was super friendly and was able to answer all of my questions.
